Several years back we had lightning start many fires in southern oregon. There were loggers in the mountain with fire fighting equipment that saw a fire start behind a locked blm gate. They called in and offered to put out the fire but we're told by officials they would be prosecuted if they went on the government land.
I owned and operated a wildland fire fighting company out of Region 5 and 6. Between the USFS , BLM and Cal fire, I gave up keeping my rigs in California due to their constant need to have independents upgrade equipment and gear every year. It was more profitable for me to send my rigs east, than deal with Cal fire.
Interesting. Seems like in emergency situations there should be a pause on inspections and other delays. I mean it’s not like other states are going to bring in defective equipment.
I was on an Emergency team offered to Lahaina's Fire tragedy immediately. We were turned away by order of the Governor. We were professionals with portable power and our own survival supplies and extra for all.
Like I said Insanely Stupid. Welcome to 2024 and now 2025. 🤢
Every day in dinosaur media the story seems to change--now, the last refuge is fatalism: "We couldn't have done anything even if..." And then you have the guy who will never be president yapping about "finger-pointing." This is rich, coming from a political class that does nothing but.
LA is a fire ecology (the infamous 'chaparral' requires fire to reproduce). The earliest Spanish land-grabbers were awed by the basin's smoke. I recall many fire-days when I lived in Orange County, including the near-destruction of legendary Laguna Beach. Fire is a feature, not a bug.
But this is news, apparently, to CA pols, who are far more interested in Ghana than Altadena.
The World Economic Forum, training ground for Democrats, has memory-holed its "You Will Own Nothing" concept so that we must use an archive to find it, but I'm sure this agenda of theirs hasn't gone anywhere. I suggest that the Democrats who run LA and California WANT LA to burn to the ground, so that they can rebuild it in their own image. Think about it; under normal circumstances, it would take decades to turn LA into a "15-Minute CIty". Now, California's rulers can simply condemn all formerly private property, bulldoze the ashes, and start from scratch. What do you think the new LA will look like? This is the REAL Democrat dream, folks. Be patient, because it takes awhile to load: "Welcome to 2030. I own nothing, have no privacy, and life has never been better": https://web.archive.org/web/20161203231740/https:/www.weforum.org/agenda/2016/11/shopping-i-can-t-really-remember-what-that-is/
It hasn't been debunked at all. They changed their story four times. They are lying, and firefighters, and even a fire chief, confirmed what we and others have been saying. Tell them to stop lying and be honest with the public.
I know someone on the board of our small fire dept. They were called up at 3AM Wed. Gathered with the Yamhill County group. Then met up with the first Oregon group. These are mostly small departments. They were deployed to fires on FRI. That is a very quick deployment. Yes, they Always stop for the inspections.
Thanks for the inside information. It's horrible how inefficient our political leaders are. Constantly passing laws that create roadblocks in order to solve a problem. This reminds me of the roadblocks put in place to handle the fentanyl crisis of the homeless issue.
Well bureaucracy has always existed…people and well meaning organizations not seeing the “forest for the trees”. I doubt much would have changed if Oregon firefighters were put on the fires straight away but it is frustrating to see.

Great interview and info. Thank you.

Wow. Thanks for the perspective.

How insanely stupid.

Now that this has been throughly debunked by the Oregon Fire Marshal, are you going to retract this post or take it down? Or apologize? https://www.facebook.com/OregonStateFireMarshal/posts/901119825528852

Is this a salvo in the culture war or is this reporting? Where is California's side of the story?
Well, you could ask California.
I was wondering about the truth to this. Thanks for posting. This is not the country I used to know 😢
